UP 1096 & 1097 This story began Friday evening when the local BNSF 151 train hit and killed a man on the tracks just west of Fernley on the single main line about 5PM. The wabuska local got stuck in Hazen in the traffic backup. They asked to come into the East end of Fernley to get something to eat, dispatch said NO. I ordered and took them a pizza and soda the ten miles to Hazen. I just said when I got there that word on the streets was that they were hungry. When I saw them today they recognized me instantly and the conductor came out and tried to pay, I said NO I was glad to do it and it was a bad night for everyone. They were very thankful because they did not get a ride out of there until 9:30 PM that night. |
